Digest: Roblox Teams Up with Google on ads; US Labour Watchdog Freezes Apple Cases Following Appointment by Trump

Today’s digest covers Roblox partnering with Google, two cases against Apple being put on hold, and new ad tools unveiled by Reddit.

Roblox Teams Up with Google on ads

Google has announced a partnership with Roblox, enabling advertisers to buy and scale Roblox’s Rewarded Video and other immersive ad formats. Marketers aiming to engage the Gen Z audience that dominates the platform can now use Google Ad Manager to purchase video ads, including the Rewarded Video format. Brands and agencies will have the flexibility to buy these ads both directly and programmatically, giving them access to Roblox’s vast daily active user base of ‘tens of millions’ of Gen Z users.

US Labour Watchdog Freezes Apple Cases Following Appointment by Trump

Two cases against Apple brought by the US labour watchdog have been put on hold, just days after former President Donald Trump nominated a lawyer representing the tech giant to a key legal post. Crystal Carey, a partner at law firm Morgan Lewis & Bockius, was nominated to serve as the NLRB’s general counsel. Carey is listed in the agency’s records as having acted in Apple’s defence in both cases.

The National Labour Relations Board abruptly withdrew the cases late last week, according to the Financial Times. Multiple complaints had been filed last year, alleging that Apple took action to suppress employee efforts to organise.

The move comes after The decision to freeze the cases was over concerns of potential conflicts of interest, as Carey’s nomination places a lawyer with ties to Apple at the helm of the agency responsible for overseeing labour disputes.

Reddit Unveils New Ad Tools to Support SMBs

Reddit has introduced new updates aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) optimise their advertising campaigns on the platform. The updates include a campaign import feature within Reddit Ads Manager, allowing advertisers to transfer campaigns from Meta to Reddit in just three steps. Additionally, Reddit has added a new review page within Ads Manager, providing a consolidated view of campaign details on a single screen.

This update is designed to help advertisers quickly identify and resolve errors or inconsistencies, streamlining the campaign management process.
