The Stack: This Week in the World of Video; Today’s MadTech Daily
A lot has been going on in the video space recently. YouTube announced that it's now receiving more views from TV devices than mobile. Impressively, consumers are watching over a billion hours of content on the platform every single day. Speaking of YouTube, the video giant is also playing a massive role in driving up Channel 4’s social viewing figures.
While Channel 4 reported some impressive figures, ITV’s major shareholders shared their support of the broadcaster’s efforts to explore a potential deal for its production arm. A merger with RedBird IMI’s All3Media could potentially be on the horizon.
Elsewhere in the video landscape, Netflix appears set to enter the race for the live rights of Formula One. Last week, the streamer also announced another price hike for those subscribed to its streaming service in the UK, following recent price hikes for subscribers in Portugal, the US, and Argentina.
