Google Introduces AI Model Gemma; OpenAI Partners with Match Group; FuboTV Files Antitrust Lawsuit Against Disney, Fox & Warner Bros’ Streaming Venture

On today’s ExchangeWire digest: Google Introduces AI Model Gemma; OpenAI Partners with Match Group; FuboTV Files Antitrust Lawsuit Against Disney, Fox & Warner Bros’ Streaming Venture

Built for the open community of developers and researchers powering innovation in the AI sector, Google introduces Gemma. Models of Gemma will be released in two sizes: Gemma 2B and Gemma 7B, both with pre-trained and instruction-tuned variants. The family of lightweight open models is built from the same research and tech used to create its Gemini models. Both versions are also lightweight enough to be run directly on a developer’s laptop or desktop computer. Alongside Gemma, the tech giant is releasing a Responsible Generative AI Toolkit, which provides guidance and tools for creating safer AI applications.

While Google releases new AI models to the market, Match Group has positioned itself to reap the benefits of AI technology through a partnership with OpenAI. Match Group, the powerhouse behind Tinder, Hinge and many other dating apps, will use the collaboration to infuse its operations with over 1,000 ChatGPT Enterprise licences. Leveraging the tech giant’s AI technology, Match Group plans to advance communications, coding, design, and analysis.

In the TV landscape, some are not so content. Sports-focused streaming service FuboTV, has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros in response to their planned sports streaming venture. The new streaming platform would “destroy competition and inflate prices for consumers”, Fubo explained in its statement. Fubo also maintains that the defendants have engaged in a long-running pattern of anti-competitive practices against it.
