Channel 4 Set to Axe up to 250 Jobs; Global Watchdog Proposes New Ethics Code to Combat Greenwashing; Italy Watchdog Says ChatGPT Breaches Data Privacy Rules

On today’s ExchangeWire digest: Channel 4 Set to Axe up to 250 Jobs; Global Watchdog Proposes New Ethics Code to Combat Greenwashing; Italy Watchdog Says ChatGPT Breaches Data Privacy Rules

Adjusting to the decline in demand for TV advertising, Channel 4 is set to announce plans to cut up to 250 jobs. The cuts represent around 15% of the broadcaster’s workforce of full-time staff. Employees will reportedly be informed this week. Channel 4 has already cut back certain shows, such as SAS: Who Dares Wins and The Big Narstie Show.

A global watchdog, the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), is proposing a new ethics code to combat greenwashing. The IESBA is an independent global body which sets ethics standards for business and other organisations; it is proposing revisions and additions to its standards for auditing sustainability information from companies. The proposed standards will be open for public consultation until May.

Italy’s data protection authority, Garante, has informed OpenAI that its ChatGPT AI model breaches data protection rules. Garante is one of the EU’s most proactive watchdog groups in assessing AI platform compliance with the bloc’s data privacy regime. OpenAI now has thirty days to present its defence arguments.
