In today's ExchangeWire news digest: Meta's request for an injunction against a ban from Datatilsynet is denied; Google quietly closes a class action lawsuit concerning its Play Store; and Barb announces it will take over CFlight from early 2024.
An Oslo District court has rejected Meta’s request for an injunction against a ban from Norway’s data protection authority. Datatilsynet barred the Facebook-parent’s practice of unconsented behavioural ad targeting in July, in addition imposing daily fines for non-compliance. Meta stated it was “disappointed” by the ruling but did not confirm if it would appeal the decision.
Google has brought a tentative end to a class action lawsuit claiming its US Play Store violated federal antitrust laws. The complaint, which was raised by more than 30 US states, alleged that Google's market dominance allowed it to overcharge customers of its Play Store. Details of the settlement have not been disclosed.
The UK’s television measurement body, Barb, has announced it will take the reins in running CFlight from January next year. According to Barb, the cross-platform measurement solution is complementary to its own cross-screen service, ‘Advanced Campaign Hub’, which provides pre-campaign planning analysis for BVOD services and linear challenges.
