AI dominated the tech industry once again this week, which opened with reports that OpenAI's head of trust and safety will step down. OpenAI hit the headlines again when the company was announced as one of four tech giants to launch the Frontier Model Forum. The Forum, a joint initiative between OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Anthropic, aims to assure the safe development of AI and assuage ethical concerns surrounding the nascent technology.
In social media, the newly-branded X Corp offered advertisers discounts of up to 50% in an attempt to reinvigorate the company's fledgling advertising business. Rival platform Threads, meanwhile, demoted news content as parent company Meta continues to clash heads with the Canadian government over the Online News Act.
