This week witnessed a major blow for TikTok, with the The White House endorsing a bill allowing US authorities to ban the video-sharing app. In a bid to stop the same happening in Europe, the ByteDance-owned company launched ‘Project Clover’ to assuage concerns over how TikTok handles users’ data.

Meanwhile, Japanese marketing giant Dentsu struck a deal to acquire Britain’s Tag for £533m. The purchase of the content production group is believed to be one of the largest UK deals of the last 15 years. And Twitter reported a year-over-year decline in revenue and adjusted earnings for Q4 2022, just two months after Elon Musk took over as CEO.
