Impact Rolls Out Series Of Events To Celebrate Black History Month In The US

Impact, the global leader in Partnership Automation™, has embarked upon a carefully curated Black History Month programme of events, which involves a collection of activities globally, including philanthropic activity for its staff to get involved in.

This activity will see Impact donate to Black Girls Code and The CodeSpace Trust; two organisations which seek to make high quality tech education accessible to people typically under-represented in the industry, so that all can contribute to, and benefit from, the economic opportunities of technological innovation.

Cultural highlights of the programme include ten must-watch Black History documentaries; a history of 100 historically significant Black cultural icons; a look at singer, songwriter and activist, Miriam Makeba’s fascinating story; and a number of delicious recipes to celebrate Black History Month.

A key pillar of the activity is a company-wide sponsored walk on Thursday, 18 February. Teams will be using the Count.it app, Spotify podcasts, and sharing photos on Slack as they get involved. Steps will be counted towards donations, creating a tangible path for more global education and equal opportunities. For every 10,000 steps accumulated by the group, $100 goes into the donation pot.

“This is about more than just collecting donations; it is a visual representation of solidarity and decisive action. It will see our employees showing one another, their loved ones and the wider world, that we are united in our stance for diversity, equality and inclusion,” says Danielle Boutte, director, DEI events & initiatives at the automation technology provider.

“This goes beyond just paying lip service to inclusivity. We know that technology today can break down barriers and help us to connect, globally, and we strive to help in this wider effort.”

Bharat Siyani, global HR director at partnership automation technology provider, Impact, adds: “It’s important to remember that this celebration is inclusive of the history of people of colour across many lands. In its spirit, it encompasses the living contributions and cultures that have shaped our varied nations today. This is a time for every race to dedicate attention to these contributions and to learn more about how to stand with one another in solidarity. The past 12 months have been eventful in many ways, with one huge positive being the company – and, of course, the world’s – greater focus on diversity.”
